Pragati was started by Mr. Paruchuri Hanumantha Rao in 1962 with an investment of Rs.6000/- in 2 small rented bays in Lakdi-ka-pul, Hyderabad. A genial man, Mr. Hanumantha Rao’s simple philosophy of “Is the customer happy?” continues to stand the company in good stead.
His sons, Narendra and Mahendra, joined the business in 1978 and 1981 respectively, and started bringing new technologies into the business, which took the company on the path to becoming one of the largest print companies in India.
The third generation joined the company from 2000 to 2010, and the journey continues. A few of the milestones in Pragati’s journey…
Mr. Hanumantha Rao’s sons, Narendra and Mahendra, joined the business. We saw the introduction of the AM Varityper phototypesetting machine, which changed the paradigm from hand-setting of lead type to computerized typesetting. The first such machine in South India, this brought a spurt of growth to the company. The company shifted to its own building of 10,000 sq.ft in 1982, from its rented premises.
Pragati won the most awards at the All India Federation of Master Printers (AIFMP) Awards, and was adjudged the Best in India. We moved to a larger 40,000 sq.ft. facility, and also introduced new technologies such as Spot UV varnishing. The first of the marketing offices was also started around this time in Mumbai.
The Packaging unit being expanded to a 150,000 sq.ft. building, followed by the doubling of area of the Offset printing unit to 80,000 sq.ft by leasing a plot of land adjacent to the existing property.
A new unit with 3-lakh square feet area was started in Raviryala on the outer ring road (a 15 minute drive from the Hyderabad airport). Rigid box and pharma leaflet production units were shifted to the new facility. The first manufacturing unit outside Hyderabad was set up in Noida for the production of rigid boxes, mainly to cater to the mobile phone and electronics industry.
We're committed to reducing our impact on the environment and to offer greener solutions to our customers.
